Manchester United fear summer £52million signing Leny Yoro faces a long stint on the sidelines with a foot injury, talkSPORT understands.
Yoro suffered the injury during United’s 2-1 weekend pre-season friendly defeat to Arsenal and was pictured leaving their US training base on crutches.
United now fear that the defender has broken his metatarsal and will miss up to two months of action, missing the start of the Premier League season, report the Daily Mail.
Manager Erik ten Hag was not hopeful that Yoro, 18, would make it in time after suffering the injury, making it a nightmare start to life at Old Trafford.
The centre-back recently signed a deal at United that has made him the fifth most expensive teenager ever.
Yoro previously made 60 appearances for French side Lille and clearly did enough for Old Trafford chiefs to make a move.
United were able to beat fellow interest from Real Madrid for the youngster and make him their second signing after Joshua Zirkzee.
However, it remains to be seen when Yoro will be spotted back on the pitch as he begins his recovery from injury.
Ten Hag’s side have already played three pre-season friendlies ahead of the new campaign – two defeats and one victory.
Rosenborg first claimed a shock 1-0 win over them before United beat Rangers 2-0, with the Arsenal loss coming a few days later.
Real Betis and rivals Liverpool are their final two pre-season opponents over in the United States.
The Community Shield against Manchester City on August 10 comes just a week before they kick off their Premier League campaign.
United open the new season on August 16 at home to Fulham, with Ten Hag taking charge for a third season at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman extended his deal at the club until 2026 following speculation he would leave at the end of last season.
They will hope to build upon their FA Cup success and challenge for a top four finish having most recently finished eighth.
